Mauro Porcini Joins Keynote Line-Up

smallerporcinimauro_headshot_2017hdlHOW Design Live 2017 returns to Chicago May 2-6 with a stellar line-up of keynote speakers. We’re excited to reveal that Mauro Porcini, Senior Vice President and Chief Design Officer at PepsiCo will be with us. As PepsiCo’s first ever Chief Design Officer, Porcini has an interesting story to tell.

Prior to PepsiCo, Porcini served as Chief Design Officer at 3M. He has also worked in design at Philips and for his own firm Wisemad. Mauro’s broad approach to design has earned him several professional and personal recognitions.

When Porcini was hired by PepsiCo in 2012, he was tasked with infusing design thinking into the company’s culture across the globe. He’s responsible for leading innovation by design across the company’s food and beverage portfolio, extending from physical to virtual expressions of the brands, including product, packaging, events, retail activation, architecture and digital media. The results have been spectacular and new ideas keep getting rolled out all the time.

In April PepsiCo unveiled “Mix It Up,” an immersive, interactive space at Milan Design Week that featured everything from a proprietary “PepsiMoji” emoji language to bespoke Pepsi barware designed by Karim Rashid to a Fiat Pepsi Car designed in collaboration with Lap Elkann’s Garage Italia Customs.

Porcini said in a press statement, “Here at Milan Design Week, @PepsiCo_Design will showcase how our focus on innovation enables experiences that shape not only what is next in design, but in culture itself. PepsiCo’s Mix It Up space, created in partnership with some of the world’s famous designers, provides an opportunity for visitors to explore and interact with our latest brand creations.”

Of course attendees were also invited by PepsiCo to capture and share their experiences with the brand while in Milan on social media.

Milan Design Week draws a discerning interdisciplinary design crowd. The competition is fierce. The PepsiCo exhibit was met with outstanding reviews. We can’t wait to see what Porcini and his team come up with next.
